For me, nature has always been a place of balance. Whenever I immerse myself in natural surroundings, everything feels lighter and more meaningful. One destination that perfectly captures this feeling is Tegenungan Waterfall.

Discovering Tegenungan Waterfall

Located in Kemenuh Village, Gianyar, Tegenungan Waterfall offers an authentic nature escape just a short drive from Ubud. While it was once considered quite secluded, its stunning natural beauty has made it increasingly popular among travelers.

Despite its growing popularity, the waterfall still retains a peaceful atmosphere, especially when visited early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Surrounded by dense greenery and towering cliffs, the area feels like a hidden corner of the jungle, where the sound of rushing water replaces the noise of daily life.

A Walk into the Jungle

Reaching Tegenungan Waterfall requires a short walk down a series of steps, but the effort is well worth it. As you descend, the air becomes cooler and the sound of water grows louder, building anticipation with every step.

Once you arrive at the base of the waterfall, you are greeted by clear, refreshing water cascading into a natural pool below. The scenery is raw, lush, and undeniably beautiful, making it easy to forget that you are still close to the main road.

If you enjoy a bit of adventure, Tegenungan Waterfall has more to offer. A small path and stairway allow visitors to climb toward a rocky ledge near the top of the waterfall. I tried it myself, and the view from above is absolutely worth the climb.

From this higher point, you can capture stunning photos from different angles, with lush greenery and flowing water as your backdrop. An entrance ticket is required to access the area, but it supports the maintenance and preservation of this natural site.

Swimming and Cooling Off

After exploring and taking photos, there is nothing better than stepping into the water. The cool, fresh pool at the base of the waterfall is perfect for washing away the heat and humidity. Swimming here feels refreshing and energizing, especially after the walk and climb.

Always remember to be mindful of water conditions and your surroundings, as nature can be unpredictable.
